The Museo de Grabados in Marbella has always been a leader in its field for artists and it is now being extended and modernised to make it more accessible and attractive to the public in general.

Changes include moving the main entrance in Calle Hospital de Bazán to the Plaza del Santo Sepulcre and installing a lift.

The council has bought the building adjoining the well-known museum of prints and sketches and will use it as an extension, but it is in a poor state of repair and needs to be made safe first.

Then, before the works can begin, an archaeological survey will have to be carried out to see whether important remains lie beneath it.

This makes it unlikely the project will be put out to tender before next year, and the works will then take about two years to complete.
