In order to avoid any further delay, the Junta de Andalucía has this week agreed to fast-track the Golf Valley initiative in Mijas.

The project, which will be referred to the Junta's Project Accelerator Unit (which helps to speed up all administrative procedures), includes a five-star hotel, one of the largest golf courses in Andalucía and an equestrian centre on one million square metres (248 acres) of land in the Entrerríos area of Mijas municipality, inland from La Cala de Mijas.

It will, according to the regional Ministry of Tourism, contribute "to the creation of stable and quality employment", all under the principle of sustainability and the promotion of public and private investment.

It has a budget of 60 million euros and has already been declared of special tourist interest.
