The body of an 84-year-old man has been found dead in his apartment, in the La Trinidad district of Malaga city.

Neighbours alerted the police after having not seen him for several days.

But given the difficulty of gaining access to the premises, officers asked for the assistance of the fire brigade.

Firefighters on a turntable ladder entered the home from the terrace, located on the fifth floor of a block of flats.

Apparently, there were no signs of violence and initial evidence points to natural death.

After the removal of the corpse, the body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Malaga. There, it will first undergo a PCR test to determine if coronavirus virus is present and, after that, an autopsy - with relevant protection measures in place - will shed light on the cause of death.
