The mass coronvirus screening session in Marbella, carried out this Monday by the Junta de Andalucía, resulted in seven positive cases detected out of a total of 430 tests carried out on random members of the population.

A thousand residents were called to take part in the voluntary screening tests so the attendance rate was less than 50 per cent.

Each attendee had received a text message specifying the exact time of their antigen test, which was carried out in one of the Junta’s mobile health units in the Palacio de Congresos Adolfo Suárez car park.

One of those tested was Jesús, who said he did not hesitate for a second to attend the appointment "given the importance of this type of evidence".

"I am one of those who has already had the virus, luckily with mild symptoms," he said.

After carrying out the tests, the health personnel told the participants that, if it was positive, they would be notified within a maximum period of one hour.

By the end of the day seven positive cases were found.

The incidence rate in the town has rocketed in a matter of a few days, reaching 706.5, well above the 500 established by the regional government to force the municipal border from Wednesday, after its publication in the BOJA, the Junta’s official gazette.
