A four-year-old boy has been reunited with his family after he became separated from his parents at a supermarket and was found walking at the side of a busy main road in Algarrobo.
It was Saturday afternoon and it was getting dark. A family from Cómpeta were on a shopping trip to a supermarket in Algarrobo-Costa with their son.
The four-year-old boy became separated from his parents and decided to try and find his own way home.
He began walking alongside the A-7206 main road heading north, as if to make his way home, almost 15 kilometres away and half an hour by car. Fortunately, just 300 metres into his dangerous journey a vehicle stopped and asked the boy where he was going. The little child confessed he was lost.
Immediately, the driver called the 112 emergency number and a patrol from the Algarrobo Local Police quickly arrived on the scene to take care of the child.
The parents, who had already raised the alarm about their son’s disappearance from the supermarket, were notified and are reunited with their son.
Algarrobo Local Police spread the story through social networks and praised the collaboration of the public to ensure it had a happy ending.
