Andalucía adds 2,508 new Covid-19 cases and 38 deaths as infection rate increases

  • The number of new positive cases is almost double that of the same day last week

Andalucía has registered 2,508 new cases of coronavirus this Tuesday, 12 January, almost double those of last Tuesday (1,366), according to official data released by the regional government.

The Junta figures record 38 deaths, 29 more than Monday and four less than last Tuesday.

The incidence rate of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days has risen to 314.3, a figure that is 15.7 points higher than that of 298.3 on Monday.

Malaga leads the number of new cases with 684, followed by Seville (470), Cadiz with 332, Almeria (249), Cordoba with 222, Jaén with 219, Granada (183) and Huelva with 149.

Granada is the province that has registered the most deaths with 12, followed by Jaén with seven, Cadiz with six, Almeria and Malaga with four each, Seville with three, Cordoba with two and Huelva with none.

The number of patients admitted to Andalusian hospitals with Covid-19 have risen again this Tuesday with 1,535, up to 134 more than Monday. Of these 269 are in an intensive care bed, 24 more than the day before and representing the highest rise since 8 November.
