Andalucía adds 780 new cases of Covid and 48 deaths in 24 hours

  • The number of patients hospitalised with the coronavirus rises again for the third consecutive day and stands at 1,061

Andalucía has confirmed 780 new cases of Covid-19 in the last day, compared to the 567 reported on Monday, and adds 48 deaths with the virus, fourteen more than the previous day according to official figures.

The number of patients hospitalised with the virus has risen again for the third consecutive day and stands at 1,061, an increase of 35 patients in the last 24 hours, of which 225 are in an intensive care bed.

The incidence per 100,000 inhabitants is recorded as 133.4 cases.

The total number of people infected by the coronavirus across the region now stands at 258,058 since the beginning of the pandemic while 5,118 people have lost their lives in Andalucía attributed to this cause.

Official statistsics also show that 230,255 patients have been cured, 1,368 in the last day.

Hospital beds

The increase in hospitalised patients comes after fewer than 1,000 covid patients were recorded on Saturday in Andalusian hospitals a figure very far from the peak of the pandemic on 10 November, when there were 3,478 admissions.

On the other hand, the occupation of conventional hospital beds in Andalucía by coronavirus patients has risen in the last four days, going up from 5.98 per cent to 6.61 per cent, while the number of occupied intensive care beds remains stable at almost 14 per cent.
