The coronavirus pandemic has already seen Marbella's Social Rights department process 67 per cent more applications for financial assistance this year than it did for the entirety of 2019.
The department is currently processing an average of 132 files each week, with applications spread across various districts of the town and in a wide range of circumstances.
Benefits granted include direct financial assistance for situations of need, help with electricity and water bills, rental assistance, the moratorium on mortgage payments and vouchers for the food guarantee programme.
