A British man was admitted to shot Malaga's Hospital Regional on Saturday night with gunshot wounds to the face.
According to information from Europa Press, the man, who was shot twice during a fight, is in the hospital's intensive care unit following surgery to remove a bullet. His condition has been described as "very serious".
The National Police have arrested five people, also reported to be British, in connection with the shooting.
The emergency services received a call just before 9pm on Saturday, reporting a fight that broke out in a bar in Avenida del Prado, on the Aloha estate in Nueva Andalucía. The caller informed of the use of a firearm and that a man had been shot.
Ambulance and police services were sent to the scene. A National Police patrol in the area located five individuals allegedly involved in the incident who were later arrested.
The victim, who, according to sources, suffered injuries to the nose and an eye, was taken initially to the Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella, but was then transferred to the Hospital Regional (formerly Carlos Haya) in Malaga due to the gravity of his injuries.
The victim is apparently a tourist, who was staying on a luxury development in Estepona, sources told SUR.
