A pregnant woman and a cyclist were injured early on Thursday morning after a 4x4 vehicle loaded with drugs was involved in a crash during a police chase in Estepona.

National Police had been monitoring two suspicious vehicles in the town but upon discovering that they were being followed, the drivers decided to flee.

During the chase, one of the vehicles crashed into a car near Costalita on the eastern edge of the town, driven by a young woman in her thirties who suffered injuries.

A nearby cyclist was also injured. While it was initially thought that he was hit by the car, other sources suggest that he was injured by a package that was sent flying during the accident.

Officers managed to arrest the driver involved in the crash and intercept the vehicle, which SUR has been able to confirm was loaded with hashish.

The second 4x4 vehicle was able to get away.
