Rincón de la Victoria council announced on Monday that the town's 14 dry stream and river beds are to be cleared of vegetation and non-organic waste ahead of autumn, to prevent flooding in case of heavy rainfall.

A spokesperson added that during the summer the work would also help to minimise the risk of wildfires.

The town hall called for residents' collaboration, asking them to use the municipal dump (punto limpio) to dispose of unwanted household items and to throw away other waste responsibly.
