An 18-year-old Moroccan man has been sent to prison pending trial following an incident in Mijas recently when he allegedly stabbed his stepfather before barricading himself inside the home with a firearm.
Several calls were received by the emergency services, for both the stabbing itself and the attacker's violent actions.
After a stand-off with officers, the alleged attacker handed himself over to the police.
When he was escorted to court in Malaga on Monday, officers had to restrain him as he made an attempt to flee. Once inside the court, the judge ruled that he would be held in prison until the trial begins.
The attacker is known to the authorities, having threatened his mother with a knife while he was still a minor. The victim, his step-father, is the owner of a popular restaurant in Mijas Costa.
