So far this summer only just over 50% of community swimming pools have opened to residents, due to the extra costs involved in complying with new Covid-19 prevention regulations.

According to Luis Camuña of the association of property administrators, opening a pool this summer could cost communities of owners an extra 3,500 euros a month. The Covid-19 preventive regulations brought in by central government this summer include establishing a reservation system to avoid overcrowding and disinfecting fully three times a day.

Camuña called for the Junta de Andalucía to relax restrictions and allow at least 75% capacity in community pools.

Meanwhile only some local town halls have decided to open their municipal pools, among them Benamocarra, Frigiliana and Casares.
