Andalucía's Supreme Court has reduced the prison sentence of the man who murdered his partner in La Viñuela on 12 February 2018.
The victim received more than 100 stab wounds, 60 of them fatal.
The sentence has been reduced from 23 to 21.5 years on the grounds that the couple were not in a serious relationship or living together.
Defence lawyer, María del Mar Molina, argued that there was "no evidence" that the couple, who had only been in a relationship for four months, lived together and that the victim's son had said that they only had "sporadic meetings" and "spoke mainly by phone".
The aggravating circumstance of a relationship has therefore been removed from the sentence.
