Cudeca will reopen the majority of its shops across Malaga province on Monday but with many volunteers in the high-risk group, the charity is looking for between 20 and 30 people willing to lend a hand for three to four hours a week.

Volunteers can work morning or afternoon and will be required to receive donations, classify them, help customers, sell items, decorate the shop and spread awareness about the Cudeca hospice and the special care it provides.

Those interested in becoming a volunteer should either send an email to voluntariado@cudeca.org or call 671 048 304.

Thirteen of the organisation's 23 shops will open in the mornings from Monday 25 May, following all the measures recommended by the Ministry of Health in terms of capacity, safety and hygiene, the foundation explained.

Health and safety

Volunteers will receive protection equipment for their safety and for that of the customers. The number of customers in each shop will be controlled, and hand sanitiser will be made available. The use of masks will be mandatory to enter the shops.

All items donated for sale in the shops will be put in quarantine for 72 hours. Each item for sale will be disinfected with steam at 120º.

Each shop has adapted to the recommendations to encourage social distancing. Methacrylate screens have been installed and strict daily cleaning and disinfection plans will be adhered to. Some display stands have also been removed to favour a more free circulation of customers, explained Cudeca.

Additionally, the number of available changing rooms has been limited, and credit card payment will be encouraged.

Items that customers try on but choose not to buy will be quarantined for 72 hours and disinfected before being available again.
