A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in Periana, Axarquía, after Vélez-Málaga Guardia Civil received reports from owners of isolated properties that they had been broken into.
According to police sources, the man had been hiding the loot in holes in trees and other isolated areas in the countryside surrounding the village and shielding them from view with plastic, rocks and branches, with a view to selling the items.
He was caught by police with two televisions he was allegedly hoping to sell to a neighbour.
The man had been breaking into the houses at night and is said to know the area well.
Police opened the investigation after a number of property owners reported the burglaries. He faces 12 charges of burglary and one for failing to comply with state of alarm laws.
