A rise in the growth of new cases of Covid-19 and related deaths was reported in Malaga province on Wednesday.

According to the statement issued by the regional Ministry of Health and Families, the total number of confirmed patients is 1,464 - 115 more than on Tuesday (an increase of 87). The number of deaths has now reached 77, an increase of seven from the previous day when only one new death was reported.

While these numbers show an erratic pattern, we are reminded that results depend on the number of samples each laboratory is able to process on a given day. What's more, deaths are only being reported at least 48 hours after they occur.

Of the 1,464 confirmed patients in Malaga, 815 have required admission to hospital and 65 have been placed in intensive care (four more than on Tuesday).

The positive data is that there are already 93 patients cured in Malaga, 10 more than on the previous day.

In Andalucía, the regional Ministry of Health and Families reported 574 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the total number up to 6,392. So far there have been 308 deaths and 182 patients who have recovered.
