Malaga city's planning department has installed 37 wooden birdhouses under the new footbridge across the river Guadalhorce.

The birdhouses are designed to host bats as well as birds such as hawks, swifts and owls.

The new wooden footbridge will improve access for pedestrians and cyclists to the Guadalhorce estuary nature reserve when open and has cost 1.6 million euros.
