With a sharp increase in the number of cases across the country in the last week (55 in one day on Wednesday), extra precautions are being taken to contain the spread at large gatherings.

Attendees at the robotics congress held at the Palacio de Ferias in Malaga earlier in the week were subjected to temperature checks upon entry. Once inside, they were told not to shake hands and were provided with disinfectant gel by the European Union, which organised the event.

Meanwhile, Catholic church parishes across Malaga have started to enforce recommendations by the diocese to halt the spread of the virus. The recommendations include emptying fonts of holy water, not administering the Eucharist directly into the mouth and avoiding physical contact when congregants are encouraged to offer each other a sign of peace.
