French woman released on bail after confessing to running over her partner

The man was left in a coma in intensive care as a result; the woman was found to be five times over the legal alcohol limit

A 39-year-old French woman who was arrested on Saturday evening in Torre del Mar after running over her partner has been released on bail after admitting to her actions, SUR has learned.

The incident happened in the garage of a block of flats on Calle Ribera, near the town's bus station at around 9pm on Saturday. The couple had been out drinking and the woman tested positive and was five times over the legal alcohol limit when officers breathalysed her.

Her partner, 40, also French, was left in a coma in the intensive care unit at Carlos Haya hospital in Malaga.

He was initially taken to the Axarquía hospital in Torre del Mar, but later transferred to Malaga due to the gravity of his injuries.

The woman, who claims she remembers very little from the night, said her partner had driven the car home but she had taken over to park it.
