Increasing the capacity of La Concepción reservoir in Marbella will have to wait a little longer, central government has announced.
An initiative to expand the reservoir that supplies the entire western Costa del Sol was first mooted two decades ago but has never materialised.
This latest update came in response to a question posed by Ciudadanos MP for Malaga Guillermo Díaz, who criticises the lack of movement on the government's part.
"There was money available for it to start in 2017, but every year since then it has been delayed," he said.
The government, for its part, says that the pre-project studies which were carried out five years ago "didn't satisfactorily resolve critical aspects".
Various geological and geotechnical analyses were carried out but "given the complexity of the area in which it is planned, minute details need to be carefully examined in order to avoid potential future problems".
