Puerto Banús has kicked off its 50th birthday celebrations and is keen to get its message across to a younger and more international audience.

To achieve this goal, bosses have chosen British model Kitty Spencer as ambassador for the anniversary year. Spencer is the niece of the late Diana, Princess of Wales and is seen as a fashion icon and important influencer. She is the daughter of the Earl of Spencer and his first wife.

The managing company at Puerto Banús wants to use 29-year-old Spencer’s image to increase the appeal of the luxury shops around the port in the west of Marbella to people under 30. An advertising campaign will launch in Marbella featuring her at the end of February.

Also part of the year’s birthday celebrations for Puerto Banús will be a programme of events and activities in conjunction with luxury brands.

Spencer was the face of Bulgari in 2018 and previously worked with Dolce & Gabbana. She became a full-time model in 2015.

Puerto Banús also wants to use its anniversary year to remind people of its important contribution to building up the modern day image of Marbella. and its role as a magnet for wealth since it opened in 1970.

Last year it was named the most exclusive marina in Europe by real estate agents, Engel & Völkers.
