  • The mayor has announced a plan which will establish a 25-kilometre network of bicycle-friendly streets across the town

The mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, has announced a cycling plan that will make bikes a priority on the town’s roads.

The plan will establish a network of bicycle-friendly streets, known as 'ciclocalles'. While these will still be open to motorised vehicles, bikes and personal vehicles such as electric scooters will be given priority and the speed limit will be 30 km/h.

The cycle streets will extend from the town centre and Paseo Marítimo into outlying districts, creating a 25-kilometre network.

The first routes to be converted will run from Calle Sauce to Paseo de Poniente; along Jesús Cautivo and Jesús Santos Rein as far as the station; and the seafront.
