Vélez-Málaga town hall approved a plan to install 60 new defibrillators in public buildings in the area last week.
An investment of 170,755 euros will include training courses and awareness events.
The machines will be fitted in public buildings including schools, sports and cultural spaces and the local police station.
Some police and town hall vehicles will also carry defibrillators.
