The council in Marbella has set to work on giving the Pirulí lighthouse-tower in central Marbella a clean for the first time in five years.
The copper and marble monument, created in 1992, requires special chemical treatment and the town hall has designated 13,000 euros for its care.
Some of the panels, lifted off by strong winds will also be restored to give it a better finish and increase safety.
