Noisy brotherhood in Marbella is ordered to soundproof building after complaints from restaurant

  • The noise produced by the brotherhood was found to exceed the permitted number of decibels

A Marbella court has declared that the Hermandad del Roció (religious brotherhood) must soundproof its building in Calle Rafina, in Marbella Old Town, and must not carry out its activities in the oldest part of it. The ruling came after Marcos Granda, the owner of Skina, a restaurant 20 metres away from the Hermandad premises, filed a complaint back in September 2016.

The decision comes after the noise produced by the brotherhood was found to exceed the permitted number of decibels and was causing disturbance for the restaurant and the family living on the floor above.

The court warned that if the brotherhood's noise pollution is not reduced and the disturbances continue, their activities will be banned altogether.
