A rough sleeper from Latvia aged 57 was killed last Saturday night by a fellow rough sleeper in a half-finished shop unit on the outskirts of San Pedro Alcántara.
The building is used by homeless people and sources said that some sleepers had been drinking before trying to get off to sleep. However one of the group, a 47-year-old Ukranian man, was still making noise, it was claimed. When he was asked to be quiet by the Latvian, the accused grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the heart on his mattress. Emergency services called to the shop unit on Calle Santa María, near the Ronda road, could not save the man.
Despite fleeing the scene, police were able to catch the alleged killer and the supposed murder weapon was found in some bushes a short time later.
