The convicted boss of a mafia-style organisation, born in Italy in 1968, and with initials P. G. F., was arrested by Fuengirola police last week, after being caught using his mobile phone while driving.

Plain-clothes officers became suspicious of a vehicle being driven in the Los Pacos area, but it was not until the driver used his phone behind the wheel near the Los Boliches station that they were given an excuse to stop the vehicle.

The man was already being hunted by police, having fled from Italy in order to escape punishment for drug trafficking, yet, until last week, his whereabouts were unknown and a European arrest warrant had been issued.

The criminal will now be extradited to Italy to serve his sentence.
