A national police investigation is under way following the death of a 31-year-old Spanish man during a shooting in Fuengirola on Monday. A 53-year-old Spanish male suspect has been identified and is being hunted by police.
Emergency services were called at around 6.40pm following reports of gunshots in the Los Núcleos neighbourhood, near the Fuengirola fairground. Police and emergency health services were deployed immediately.
According to sources, paramedics were unable to save the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was transported to Malaga's Instituto de Medicina Legal, where an autopsy was due to take place. Results were expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the death.
A motive for the killing is yet to be suggested. It has, however, emerged that the deceased and the suspect were related. No arrest has been made so far, as police continue the search for the Spaniard who is still on the run.
