  • Locals in the La Ermita industrial estate of Marbella recorded the activity, after the council supposedly failed to react to complaints

A residents' campaigning group appears to have lifted the lid on the dumping of rubbish bags in a dry river bed in Marbella by the council's very own refuse collection workers.

Impulsa Ciudad posted 90 seconds of video on Facebook that had been received from locals in the La Ermita industrial estate area, to the east of the centre of Marbella.

Sources at the town hall said that the staff in the video had been identified and that an inquiry had started into what had happened and if there will be any consequences for those allegedly involved.

Not the first time

However, locals have claimed that this isn't the first time that the dumping by council workers has happened and, when the council supposedly failed to react to complaints, the hidden recording was made.

Impulsa Marbella, the campaigning group, said, "We recognise the professionalism of the vast majority of the workers from the refuse collection service, and for this reason, it's important to clarify this lamentable occurrence."
