Boosting employment and improving quality in the tourism sector is a priority for the Junta de Andalucía, says Juan Marín, the vice-president of the regional government and minister for Tourism, Justice and Local Administration.
He has just announced a new plan, in which business owners, unions and the Administration will take part, which will include inspections, a specific programme to control temporary work contracts and encourage employers to issue more permanent ones.
Among the actions proposed for this plan, which was agreed with the CC OO and UGT unions at a meeting on 12 July, Marín says there will be a focus on removing discrimination between men and women and campaigns to control the way in which hotel cleaners are employed.
Companies which are commited to creating and maintaining employment will also be given priority when it comes to incentives.
The plan will also focus on training within the hospitality industry, with new courses in the colleges which are run by the Junta de Andalucía.
The authorities also want La Cónsula and La Fonda catering colleges to be fully operative again, and to reopen the CIO centre in Malaga.
