  • The girl's rescue revealed the horror of a sexual exploitation scheme operating in the Malaga province

A 15-year-old Nigerian has been rescued from involuntary prostitution by Malaga police. Her young appearance and behaviour on the streets of the Guadalhorce district were what caught police attention, triggering what was to become a National Police operation.

The girl's rescue revealed the horror of sexual exploitation scheme, operating in the Malaga province and organised by a gang of Nigerian citizens. All 11 members of the gang have since been arrested.

Six women, including the 15-year-old girl, have been freed from sexual exploitation and forced prostitution. Each woman had been fed the false promise of a better quality of life in Europe, yet, upon arrival in Spain, had been subjected to cruel control by gang members and had been obligated to take part in prostitution. All money was stored in bank accounts opened using false identity documents.

The arrested gang members now face charges of trafficking, forcing prostitution, and falsifying documents.
