A man was pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon after being rescued from the sea at La Gaviota beach in Benalmádena.

Emergency services were alerted at around 1.30pm after reports of a man spotted struggling out at sea. He was retrieved with the help of a jet ski but died after failed resuscitation attempts.

He is the second person to drown on this beach this summer, after Brit Ben Lloyd, 32, suffered the same fate on 1 July.
