Malaga's mayor confident in tunnel plan

  • The estimated cost is 277 million euros with funding expected to come from local administrators and the EU

Malaga mayor, Francisco de la Torre, has faith that initial stages of planned tunnelling works will go ahead in the next four years.

2,200 metres of busy road from Muelle de Heredia to the Malagueta could be put underground, and engineer José Alba and architect Salvador Moreno Peralta have estimated a cost of 277 million euros.

Funding is expected to come from local administrations and EU help. The project pledges to improve pedestrian connections across Malaga.
