Representatives the UK film industry, including former Conservative politician, Eric Ollernshaw, director Sachin Karande and actor, Rajdeep Choudhury, have been in the Axarquía this week to visit possible Bollywood film locations.
They have been accompanied by the Axarquía Film Office and since the visit started on Sunday, they have been to Alcaucín, La Viñuela, Frigiliana, Nerja, Torrox, Salares and Vélez-Málaga, among other places.
According to the Axarquía Film Office, which is run by the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol - Axarquía, Ollernshaw has said that the Axarquía has "everything a film producer needs".
The spokesperson for tourism at the Mancomunidad, Juan Peñas, said that the visit situates the Axarquía on the map of one of the most important film industries and opens the door to tourism from India.
The Axarquía has appeared in a number of Bollywood films, in particular Nerja, which has featured in musicals and scenes in films since August 2012.
