The public prosecution department in Malaga is calling for four years in prison for a man who they say carried out a cyberattack on the company that fired him "to get revenge".

The company, which is based in Malaga and specialises in offering tech services to other firms across Spain, fired the man on 28 October 2013.

It is thought that the defendant, who knew the access codes for the company, launched a so-called 'denial-of-service' (DOS) attack in which he sought to make the service unavailable to its intended users by disrupting the services of a host connected to the internet.

The result, say prosecutors, was that some 200 clients of the company were unable to access services.
