National Police have arrested 14 people as part of an ongoing anti-drugs operation that saw almost six tonnes of hashish seized, much of it hidden in the hills behind Estepona.
As part of the latest success in the fightback against drug smuggling from North Africa, officers seized seven vehicles that had been stolen and modified to move hashish once it was brought ashore from Morocco in powerboats.
Initial success came when officers seized 600 kilos and an arrest led them to finding 3.6 tonnes in a secret hiding place on the hillside near the toll road.
The gang was not put off and another one and a half tonnes was seized while being brought ashore.
