Three municipalities are home to 25 per cent of all rural holiday accommodation in Malaga province, according to a report on sustainable tourism which was released by the Costa del Sol Tourist Board this week.
Frigiliana heads the list, followed by Ronda and then Cómpeta. Frigiliana offers 432 properties, Ronda 395 and Cómpeta has 239. In terms of guests, however, the situation changes slightly. Ronda has accommodation for 4,719 people, Antequera 2,687 and Frigiliana 2,444. Together, these account for 30 per cent of the total in the province. The rural tourism sector attracted 1.1 million visitors last year, mainly from other parts of Spain, the UK, Germany and France.
