Around 50 volunteers participated in a clean-up of Nerja's beaches last Saturday. Those taking part used motorboats and kayaks to remove half a tonne of waste from the cliffs and beaches of Nerja during the event.

Plastics from local greenhouses, tyres, bottles, cans, plastic bags and wet wipes were among the items removed from the popular holiday resort's coast during the second event of its kind. The day was organised by Nerja-based company, ProAventura, in collaboration with the town hall and other local firms.

The volunteers were invited to a free paella at the Ayo beach bar on Burriana beach after the session as a thank you for their hard work. It is expected that further events will be organised in the future.
