Satín Greco, one of the most well-known drag queens in Torremolinos, was attacked outside a nightclub by a group of young people, early last Saturday morning. She claimed, backed by witnesses, that the group attacked and tried to rob her as she left work in La Nogalera neighbourhood. The owner of the Edén Copas bar, one of the places Satín worked that night, Antonio Domínguez, explained that "Satín left work at 7am. She was met by a group of foreign teenagers who began to shout 'maricón' (fag). After she asked them to leave her alone, they attacked her, in order to rob her". Domínguez and his staff had finished work and were eating breakfast when they heard a commotion. They ran outside but the aggressors had fled.
Satín was treated at a health centre for the minor injuries she sustained defending herself and was unable to work Saturday and Sunday. She has since filed a report to the police for homophobic aggression. This is not the first case like this to be reported in the area. Last January a similar story was published in SUR.
