In a bid to further bolster its reputation as a leading tourist destination, Torremolinos town hall has initiated a motion to secure the 'Q' for Quality Tourism approval for the resort's iconic beach bars.
With the support of the beaches association, AEPLAYERS Malaga-Costa del Sol, the town hall is hoping to achieve the recognition for the chiringuitos in Los Álamos, Playamar, Bajondillo and La Carihuela
During a meeting held with local beach bar owners this week, councillor for Beaches, Maribel Tocón, said, "We hope to place Torremolinos in a position of advantage over competing destinations. We are offering the town as a global quality product."
Mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz, claimed that the gesture was a "contribution to the international image of Torremolinos that will make the beach bars faithful representatives of our cuisine".
The 'Q' is awarded for excellence within the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.
