Torremolinos town hall has announced plans for a lift to be installed in the Parque La Batería to facilitate access to Avenida Carlota Alessandri and the beaches of La Carihuela.
The glass-fronted lift, which is expected to cost approximately 270,000 euros, will offer panoramic views of the coast on its 15- metre descent.
The park attracts around 300,000 visitors each year and the town's mayor, José Ortiz, expressed the importance of the lift, saying, "This elevator is vital for easy access to the beach and the main hotels."
The area is undergoing major refurbishment in a bid to revitalise local business. The lift will be located next to the underground car park in Avenida Carlota Alessandri, the main road that connects La Carihuela with Torremolinos.
