Ever since his son Julen's body was recovered from the borehole in Totalán on 26 January, José Roselló has been inconsolable. Only going back to the family home to sleep "because of the memories", he and his wife Vicky have been staying with friends who have been trying to help them to think about literally anything else. However, "whenever I close my eyes, I only ever see one thing - the well," he says.
Despite the heartbreak, Roselló contacted SUR to give a short interview in which he wanted to express the couple's "eternal thanks" to everyone involved in the rescue operation, especially the Guardia Civil, firefighters, miners, engineers, those who gave up their free time to be there, as well as those who sent messages of support from far and wide.
"Although no one can take away our pain, I will be eternally grateful for the help and support that everyone has given us," he concluded.
