Ann Jenkins, director of Almuñécar's Asociación Playa Patrol, announced last Saturday that CD Almuñécar City FC is to support a number of beach clean-up campaigns in the town in order to raise awareness of the damage that single-use plastic has on the sea. "We are pleased to learn that our mission to think globally and act locally to help keep our sea plastic free resonates with the local football club," she said.

Club manager, George Jermy, said, "When Jenkins approached me about the work that Playa Patrol plans to undertake to involve the local community it was obvious that club had to get involved."

The first project is the #PlayaPatrol15MinuteChallenge, to encourage people to keep the sea plastic free. Playa Patrol is also set to meet the local association of beach bars next week to get them on board.
