  • Los Reyes Magos led colourful cavalcades through many of the area's largest towns

The festive season in Spain came to a climax on Sunday as Los Reyes Magos, the Three Wise Men, delivered their gifts to the best-behaved from last year.

The Three Kings, Balthazar, Gaspar and Melchior, arrived in spectacular fashion on Saturday at various points across the Costa del Sol, embarking on colourful 'cabalgatas', or cavalcades, through the streets of the larger municipalities aboard a procession of large floats which weaved their way through the town centres.

The Kings distributed sweets to those that turned out and lined the streets, with children making the use of upturned umbrellas to try and collect as many as possible.

The largest of these processions took place in Malaga city where the route took in some of the most emblematic monuments.

The most eyecatching, however, was in Fuengirola where the Kings arrived by helicopter.

In Marbella the next day, the seafront was packed with children taking their new toys for a spin, with bicycles, hoverboards and scooters evidently a popular present this year.
