Four members of a gang accused of kidnap, extortion, theft, threatening behaviour and belonging to a criminal organisation were arrested last week.
Their victim, an estate agent, was contacted by a gang member to visit a house with the pretext of wanting to rent a room. He was taken to an isolated farmhouse where another man, who claimed to be a hitman and head of the gang, tied him to a chair and put a bag over his head. The men demanded 50,000 euros and after obtaining the pin numbers for his bank cards, let him free.
The Guardia Civil were able to track down and arrest the leader, a 51-year-old ex-convict from Casabermeja with a history of violence, and three other members of the gang after two months of investigations.
