Torrox's annual Día de las Migas, which is held on the last Sunday before Christmas every year, has been plagued with political controversy ahead of this year's event.

The town's cleaning company has threatened to strike over salary and working hours during the weekend of 15 and 16 December, coinciding with the fiesta.

In addition to the strike, opposition councillors and some residents have demanded that the poster advertising the day be taken down as they say two of the characters featured on the image resemble the mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina and president of Malaga's Diputación, Elias Bendodo, both of the PP political party.

The opposition argues that it has been used as a political message ahead ofthe regional Junta de Andalucía elections in December.
