New cables to improve the power supply to the Guadalhorce valley hospital are almost ready. The regional health service has said that the local hospital, part opened in 2016, cannot be fully brought into service until the power supply is upgraded.
Now that Endesa, the electricity supply company, has installed the pylons and cabling, the argument has now swung back to the Junta's health service. Opposition politicians have been claiming that the lack of adequate power is "an excuse", and that the real reason for the hospital delay is shortage of funds and personnel to fully open new wards and theatres.
