The head of the Colegio de Abogados de Málaga, the local representative body for lawyers, has complained about the state of court buildings in Torremolinos.

The courts in the town are spread across three separate buildings and serve both Torremolinnos and Benalmádena.

Francisco Javier Lara said these towns "neither deserve nor can put up with them any longer", as the situation is "third world".

The buildings suffer from defects due to age, especially water entering when it rains, when staff have to put out buckets.

A scheme for a new courthouse has been designed but never implemented.
