More summer visitors for Estepona's orchid house
  • Two particularly unusual plants are thought to have been factors in the increase in numbers

The Orchidarium in Estepona received ten per cent more visitors this summer.

Two particular attractions, the flowering of the 'Amorphophallus prainii' from south-east Asia, which produces a strong smell to attract pollinating insects, and the 'Stanhopea tigrina' from Mexico which smells of vanilla chocolate and only lives for 48 hours, are believed to be one of the factors behind the increase in numbers.
